Evidence-Based Practices (EBP)

At NYEG, we are always aiming to apply practical and scientifically proven practices for our communities and participants to benefit more. Evidence-Based Practices (EBP) are practices that are based on actual scientific and tangible evidence that provides proven health benefits. Our long term goal at NYEG is to utilize EBP methods for many of our programming so our communities and programs can engage in positive change that has been tested and proven to work.

60 and Over Seniors

Matter of Balance is one of our most popular evidence-based programs for 60 and over seniors. This program is based on 8-week structured sessions where seniors learn to combat their fear of falling through effective strength, balance and agility exercises.

 

Primary goals Matter of Balance include:

  • Reduce fear of falling

  • Restore confidence to control falls

  • Increase strength and balance exercises for seniors to practice in their daily life

  • Improve the quality of life

  • Supports them in gaining their Independence back

  • Reduces pain

  • Improves mental health
